Earlier, the fifties from Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya helped India recover from a wobbly start and post 168/5. Put in to bat, India had a slow start and lost opener KL Rahul (5) early but Kohli held the innings together to slam his fourth fifty of the tournament. But it was Pandya’s blazing knock that propelled India’s total.
England Enter Final in Style
England produced a sensational performance against India at the Adelaide Oval to enter the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday with a massive 10-wicket win. India’s journey at the showpiece event ends in the semifinals with a game that they will want to forget quickly. It turned out to be one-sided affair with Alex Hales and Jos Buttler setting the tone early on, didn’t allow any India bowler to settle in as they continued hitting boundaries almost every over. They had done well to keep India to 168/6 and may have limited them to a lower score but for the brilliance of Hardik Pandya who struck a quickfire fifty to give his team a fighting chance. Virat Kohli scored his fourth fifty of the tournament to keep the innings from disintegrating. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were dealt with cheaply but the body blow came in the form of Suryakumar Yadav who managed just 14. In their chase though, England were unstoppable. Hales scored an unbeaten on 86 while Buttler made 80 not out as the target was overhauled in 16 overs – 170/0. England will now face Pakistan for the trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
